If the lawyers on our board would let us say that we are powered by rocket fuel, we’d say it. We have an energetic, incredible group of volunteers who dedicate their time, sweat, and sometimes tears to the residents of Windy Hill. They coordinate fundraisers, help with math homework, and cook meals for seniors. Windy Hill would be nothing without our volunteers.
Volunteers are always needed – and always welcome.
Windy Hill Foundation’s Family Services Programs are constantly looking for volunteers to help with tutoring, after-school activities, and senior events. No experience is necessary! The only requirement is a willing heart.
We think “Study Buddy” looks fantastic on a résumé. If you can devote an hour and a half of your time once or twice a week during the school year, you will be able to make a difference in a young child’s life. Our Study Buddies help with reading skills, math, science, and anything else our children learn in elementary school. Keep in mind, though, that Study Buddies often lose their hearts to their new friends.
Our Study Buddy Program currently runs Mondays and Thursdays, from 2:45 – 4:00 p.m.
On non-tutoring days, children of all ages (i.e., elementary, middle, and high school) meet at designated times in the beautifully-renovated Community Room at Llewellyn Village Apartments. Volunteers help the children with their homework, reading, and have lots of fun!
Our after-school activities currently run on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, from 3:00 – 6:45 p.m.
If you’ve never planned or participated in a program for our seniors at Levis Hill House, then life is passing you by! You could play the piano, lead a crafting class, or sponsor a themed Bingo Night. There’s nothing better than getting residents out of their apartments and into an environment where they can socialize and make friends.
We can accommodate your schedule for Senior Programs.
Friday’s Feast provides meals every other Friday for families who reside at Windy Hill and Levis Hill House. Volunteers are asked to prepare dinner for six families at a time. Each family consists of one to three persons, and our “chefs” are invited to supply meals twice a year.
Please contact our Resident Services Coordinator, Claire Louis, at firstname.lastname@example.org or 540.687.3273 for more information.
Short on time?
If you can’t contribute your time, monetary contributions are always welcome and needed to keep our annual programs funded.
