Residents began the month with a memorable field trip hosted in partnership with Oak Spring Garden Foundation. The Food & Fragrance: Botanicals Field Trip offered residents a unique opportunity to travel to Upperville and participate in a variety of hands-on activities centered around gardening, culinary creativity, and herbal wellness. During the experience, residents created their own garden focaccia using fresh produce, herbs, olive oil, and cheese, crafted rose-scented geranium linen spray, designed custom tea blends, and prepared refreshing iced herbal teas complete with garnishes. After completing their creations, residents enjoyed relaxing together while savoring their homemade focaccia and herbal tea. The field trip provided a wonderful opportunity for residents to learn new skills, explore their creativity, and enjoy themselves outside of the community while connecting with nature and local resources.

In addition to enjoying educational outings, residents also gathered for the Resident Services “Dip into Summer” program. Designed to celebrate the arrival of the summer season, the event encouraged both socialization and healthy eating habits among residents. Participants enjoyed sampling a variety of flavorful dips, including ranch dip, buffalo chicken dip, tzatziki, and French onion dip. Our wonderful volunteer, Kate Ryan, made the buffalo chicken dip for the residents to enjoy. The dips were paired with fresh vegetables such as carrots, bell peppers, and cucumbers, including some of the season’s early cucumber harvests. As residents sampled the different offerings, they enjoyed conversation and camaraderie with neighbors while learning about nutritious snack options that support healthy lifestyles. The program successfully highlighted how healthy foods can be both enjoyable while creating opportunities for residents to strengthen relationships with one another. Longtime Middleburg resident and Levis Hill House resident, Flonnie Hill, who has called Middleburg home her entire life and has resided at Levis Hill House since 2008, shared her thoughts on the event. “I really liked the options, and it was very fun to enjoy the different dips.” Her comments reflect the enjoyment that residents experienced while participating in a program that combines nutrition, wellness, and community engagement.

Together, June’s initiatives highlight the continued dedication to enhancing residents’ quality of life through enriching experiences that promote wellness, learning, and social connection. By providing educational outings, creative activities, and health-focused programming, Resident Services remains committed to creating opportunities for residents to build relationships, stay engaged, and enjoy a vibrant community atmosphere.
