Music makes every day brighter, richer, and more fulfilling. Sharing that gift with our residents is possible, thanks to Foxcroft School’s Treble Club. At Windy Hill we want to highlight performances that started in 2025 and have been greatly appreciated by our residents. We sat down with the founders of Treble Club, a student named Youki Tomimatsu and her advisor Deborah Balcom, to ask about what inspired them to reach out to Windy Hill Foundation and take their performances outside of their school.
The Treble Club started in September 2024, when Youki worked with Deborah to create Foxcroft’s first ever classical music club. Their first performance was at the Thanksgiving Banquet at Foxcroft that same year, and they have since expanded to the Artists in Middleburg Gallery and performances at Levis Hill House. Youki describes the Treble Club’s goals: “Treble club believes in the power of music to uplift, connect, and inspire people of all ages. Through our performances, we aim to bring comfort, happiness, and a sense of togetherness to those who may not have regular access to live music.”
Treble Club’s performances are arranged by Youki, who prepares a repertoire of classical songs, which have included pieces by Mozart, Volver, Frank Sinatra, and even Japanese composer Joe Hisaishi. Youki arranges a date to perform with Deborah, and afterwards they reach out to Antonio at Windy Hill Foundation. Once a date is set, “I tell the rest of the members about the planned performance date to get our repertoire in shape and ready to perform in front of the residents.”

The Treble Club connected with Windy Hill Foundation as part of their desire to go beyond their school and play for their community. “We have enjoyed working with Windy Hill as they are very appreciative of our music,” says Youki. Residents are eager to share their love and appreciation for the student performers. “I liked them, we all like the times they’ve played for us. They were very good,” says Jeanette, a frequent attendant to their performances. Another resident shares that the most recent holiday performance and surprise sing-along was especially fun: “It was enjoyable and relaxing, we had fun caroling and using the props they provided while we sang.”
The Treble Club always seeks to enrich our residents’ afternoons with music. “We are committed to using our talents to make a positive impact, foster meaningful connections, and enrich the lives of our neighbors with every note we play,” says Youki. This aligns with Windy Hill Foundations’ goal of fostering positive community engagement, through musical connections with up-and-coming student musicians.
Youki and Deborah have enjoyed the connections made while performing for our residents. “On another visit, a resident got out her old Foxcroft yearbook and showed us pictures of one of the Treble club’s moms in her younger years at Foxcroft. Very exciting!” Youki also states how these performances help club members get accustomed to playing outside of the usual school environment. “[These performances have] provided the members a unique opportunity to perform outside our regular community and engage with the members of Middleburg which is not always easy at a boarding school.”
A very big thanks to Youki, Deborah, and all members of the Treble Club that play their best for our residents. Their gift of music brings joy to all who attend. We look forward to all future shows!
